Soccer Analyst Sutton Takes On Singer Olly Murs in Top Flight Predictions
Arsenal's ten-match winning run was ended by the Black Cats before the international break, but can the English top division leaders recover against north London rivals Tottenham this Sunday?
"{I believe like Arsenal are light years ahead of Tottenham currently but Spurs manager Thomas Frank will have a plan for this game," remarked football expert Chris Sutton.
"The Spurs manager will attempt to neutralize Arsenal, who have not always been at their scintillating best this season - but Mikel Arteta's team usually still manage to win."
Sutton is making predictions for all 380 Premier League games this term, versus artificial intelligence, readers and a variety of guests.
In week 12, he takes on performer Olly Murs, who is a United fan.
Murs' latest album, Knees Up, is out on Friday.
Soccer and Family Life
Olly is a talented footballer as well as a accomplished singer and has been a star of several Soccer Aid matches down the years - but he is not intending a serious return as a player.
"{I actually played in a charity match the other night for a friend of mine," he explained. "The side was losing 3-1 when I was substituted in the 60th minute, and they went on to win 4-3, so you can interpret that what you want!
"I continue to love football, but I injured my joint a few years ago and it still hasn't fully recovered. I hope I could play more but the uncertainty of the sport means it's too dangerous for me in my profession to do it properly again.
"Plus I am 41 now, and we are not everyone is Cristiano Ronaldo, are we!? No, I am very content not playing football and I am preparing for the moment that my child or boy chooses to play instead."
The singer and his spouse Amelia Tank have a young family, Madison and their son, and he is prepared to emulate his dad by taking on the role of their coach.
"I will not force football on our kids but I've already told my wife that if they happen to get the bug for it then I will have to go and get my coaching badges - and I will likely be managing their weekend soccer team," he said.
"I observed my nephews play a lot, and I truly got into it, and I clearly was involved with a football club for a while too.
"My dad did it with us when I was a kid, which is probably where I get it from. He managed our side for several seasons and had a wonderful time with it. That could be the next step for me as well, and I am looking forward to it!"
Premier League Forecasts
Weekend, 22 November
- Turf Moor, 12:30 GMT
The Blues may have to wait a bit longer for their star's comeback from fitness issues but their offense is now more potent with Joao Pedro and Delap both returned to fitness.
I still think this fixture will be quite tight, however. The Clarets are well organised and their only at Turf Moor defeats so far have been against the Reds and the Gunners.
This suggests a 1-1 draw to me, but I am actually going to choose Chelsea to edge it for what would be their third league win in a row.
Sutton's prediction: 1-2
The singer's pick: Chelsea will be too strong. 1-3
AI's prediction: 0-2
- Vitality Stadium, 15:00 GMT
The Cherries have been defeated in their previous couple games - although both of them were away - but they got thoroughly beaten by Villa last time out which surprised me.
In contrast, the Hammers won two in a row before the international break and, although both of those games were at their stadium, they do look strong again.
West Ham's sole away victory this campaign came at Forest in August, when their boss Nuno was still that team's coach.
Therefore, what exactly do I go with here - will it be West Ham extending their run under their manager, or Bournemouth responding?
I will choose the Cherries, because I believe what happened against Aston Villa was a anomaly.
The pundit's forecast: 2-0
The guest's outlook: The home team are doing well but the visitors have picked up under Nuno. 2-2
The algorithm's pick: 1-1
- Amex Stadium, 15:00 GMT
Brentford were considered one of the frontrunners for relegation before the season started, but they have impressed a several people under their manager and are in good form with three in their last four games.
A family member advised me to get Bees forward Thiago in my fantasy soccer squad a few weeks back and, unfortunately, I didn't listen.
Thiago will probably score again on the weekend but I am nonetheless not going to pick him or back the away side at Brighton's ground.
They have not had great success on the travel this term, and Brighton are always decent at their stadium. Brentford will attempt to attack on the counter-attack but I think the home manager's side pose much more of a danger.
Sutton's forecast: 2-1
Olly's view: This could be one of those games where you think there is going to be a many scores but it actually proves to be quite close. 1-1
AI's prediction: 2-1
- Craven Cottage, 15:00 GMT
It is a huge fixture for the Cottagers, who have suffered defeat in five of their last six matches.
Fulham have have plenty of talent in their team but it nonetheless feels like they could be sucked into a drop zone fight.
As for the Black Cats, well they are the unexpected success of the top flight campaign so far.
Their performance in the 2-2 tie with Arsenal last time out was superb. We've not witnessed anyone else disrupt the North London side like that this season, and Sunderland were more than a match for them.
The logical choice to do to support the visitors here, because they are obviously able of roughing the hosts up too and, the previous occasion they were in west London, they defeated the Blues at the close of last month.
But I am not going to do that. Rather, I truly need to continue opposing Sunderland with my predictions. I am claiming a lot of responsibility for their positive results because they clearly love to prove me wrong.
Considering Fulham's at Craven Cottage record, the only team they have lost to is Arsenal. Their manager's team will be absolutely eager for a positive outcome, so I am going to predict they will secure three much-needed points.
Sutton's forecast: 1-0
The guest's choice: I know the visitors are performing strongly and additionally that Fulham are on a poor streak... but Fulham have nonetheless been respectable at Craven Cottage this season. 2-0
The algorithm's outlook: 2-0
- Anfield, 15:00 GMT
This is a tough fixture to call. Liverpool have lost seven of their past 10 matches in all competitions, but might they be one of the sides who benefit from the {international break|
