Jurgen Klopp says coming back to coach Liverpool is plausible in theory.
The German coach, who departed from Liverpool in 2024, indicated that returning someday is an option. Klopp, following a hugely successful near-decade reign that included a European Cup triumph and the Premier League crown since 1990, has since taken on positions as head of global soccer for Red Bull and as an advisor for the DFL.
Fan Sentiment and His Frank Comments
They secured the Premier League in the previous campaign, though countless followers who adore the manager would embrace the idea of his potential comeback. In a wide-ranging interview, he shared with the podcast host: “I said I won't manage any other side within the country. Which implies if then it’s Liverpool...absolutely. In theory, it could happen.”
“Being 58, that means the choice could be mine later on, who knows. Is a decision required immediately? If so, I wouldn't return. Luckily, no such pressure exists. I'll simply watch what lies ahead.”

Pressed on which situations must arise to draw him back to the touchline, he confessed he isn't eager to such a return. “I'm not entirely sure, I enjoy my current role,” he stated. “I don't crave being a coach; I avoid standing under bad weather for lengthy sessions; I'm glad to skip media briefings four times, three times a week or doing numerous chats a week.
“I don’t miss the dressing room as a dressing room, however, dining out with the players talking freely, is pleasant. With many victories meaning regularly positive atmosphere in the building. I still have Virgil [Van Dijk’s] laugh ringing in my ears to illustrate.”
Commending Arne Slot
He spoke highly regarding Arne Slot, acknowledging his role for the adjustments that took the title last campaign. Liverpool have lost four consecutive matches across various tournaments post heavy investment, yet he dismissed the idea of it representing the start of a downward turn.
“[Liverpool have] a phenomenal forward like Florian Wirtz, doubters will be silenced if spoken against. A remarkable prospect. Ekitike, superb talent. They have a strong thoughtfully assembled roster. Fans shouldn't fret over the club, things will improve.”

He shared movingly on the loss of the Portuguese star, whom he brought in while in charge, and the effect at the club. The Portugal international lost his life in a car crash together with his sibling recently.
“Can you substitute such an individual? It’s not about the player himself, it's his character. It's hard to picture the squad absent his presence. I still cannot speak properly on this topic. It was an incredible shock for the entire squad as well. No one within the club would cite it to justify results though it's a fact. You walk in a dressing room which he filled completely. Handling this on a personal level is not easy. Unbearable.”
