Fresh Particulars Emerge About the Finding of the Bodies of Rob and Michele Reiner Bodies
Recent details have emerged about the untimely demises of esteemed director Rob Reiner and visual artist Michele Singer Reiner, whose bodies were found at their Los Angeles home home on Sunday.
A Discovery
As detailed in an account referencing a person close to the family, a massage therapist arriving for an appointment initially became concerned after not being able to enter the home. The practitioner then contacted the couple's daughter, Romy Reiner, who lives close by.
Upon entering the home, Romy discovered her father's body. Accounts indicate she then exited the property overwhelmed with grief, without knowing at that moment that her mother's body was also present. A companion who had accompanied her contacted 911. Subsequently, emergency responders found Michele Singer Reiner's body.
Legal Charges
Authorities have formally accused the couple's 32-year-old son, Nick Reiner, with two counts of murder in the first degree, including the use of a dangerous weapon, reportedly a knife. He is now detained without bail.
Clarifications
The anonymous source also disputed several previously reported details. They said that while Romy Reiner told first responders that her brother Nick resided in a separate structure on the property, she did not point to him as a person of interest at that moment.
The source also pushed back against circulated suggestions that Rob and Michele Singer Reiner had been especially "worried" about Nick's behavior in the weeks leading up to the incident. Rather the family was "familiar with working through [Nick's] problems together."
This correction includes descriptions of reportedly "erratic" conduct by Nick at a gathering thrown by Conan O'Brien on the night before the discovery. Although the source stated they were unable to confirm whether Rob had "chastised" his son at the party, they maintained that claims of a "heated argument" between the two were not correct.
Investigation Details
Per law enforcement officials, the medical examiner had yet to determine at that point whether the Reiners died on Saturday evening or on Sunday. Some media reports suggested the state of their bodies pointed to they had been dead for a period of time.
Nick Reiner was taken into custody at approximately 9:30 p.m. on Sunday in the Exposition Park, about 15 miles from the scene. He was scheduled to be arraigned on Tuesday, but his legal counsel, Alan Jackson, stated his client had not been medically cleared and would not be present until Wednesday at the earliest.
