Former Physician Faces Sexual Assault Allegations Against Thirty-Eight Individuals in His Care
Prosecutors have stated that a former physician has been charged with carrying out assaults involving 38 victims who were under his care.
Details of the Grave Allegations
The accused, Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham faces allegations of numerous acts of sexual assault – comprising acts against minors under the age of thirteen – between 2017 and 2021.
One deputy chief CPS official said, “Legal teams have diligently worked to support a detailed and complex police inquiry, meticulously examining the evidence to establish that there is a strong case to bring the case to trial and that it is in the public interest.”
The Police Inquiry
These allegations come after what investigators described as a “detailed inquiry” into reported sexual offences at two hospitals: the Royal Stoke university hospital and Russells Hall hospital.
Spencer is due to appear at the local magistrates' court on January 20th.
Breakdown of Offences
The charging documents outline the 45 charges include:
- 15 counts of assault.
- Seventeen counts of assault by penetration.
- 9 counts of assault on a minor under thirteen.
- 3 counts of assault of a child under 13 by penetration.
- One count of attempted penetrative assault.
